'Tangerine' Leads Home Longshots in Abbaye

Outsider Tangerine Trees led home a trio of longshots when he upset the $407,904 Qatar Prix de l’Abbaye (Fr-I) at Longchamp Oct. 2.

The Bryan Smart-trained gelding, a 6-year-old by Mind Games, took the lead early and never looked back when scoring the 14-1 upset. Tom Eaves rode Tangerine Trees, who was notching the biggest win of his career.

Secret Asset (40-1) got up for second, with Sole Power (8-1) third.
