A small but quality field of six juvenile fillies will go to the post in the $407,904 Total Prix Marcel Boussac-Criterium Des Pouliches (Fr-I) at Longchamp Oct. 2.
The race lost a little bit of its luster when Aidan O’Brien decided not to enter his star filly Maybe, who is undefeated in five starts.
The Coolmore connections will still be represented in the Boussac by the talented Fire Lily, a daughter of Dansili who was second to Maybe in the Moyglare Stud Stakes (Ire-I). Trained by David Wachman, Fire Lily won the Anglesey Stakes (Ire-III) and was second to the sharp Best Terms in the Jaguar Cars Lowther Stakes (Eng-II).
Wayne Lordan will have the mount.
Freddy Head will send out the undefeated Zantenda. The daughter of Zamindar has won both of her starts, which included a score in the Prix D’Aumale (Fr-III) Sept. 8. Olivier Peslier will be in the irons.
Elusive Kate will represent trainer John Gosden in the Boussac. The Kentucky-bred daughter of Elusive Quality has won three of her four starts. She most recently was an easy winner of the Prix Du Calvados (Fr-III) Aug. 20. William Buick will ride.
Godolphin, which is loaded with talented juvenile fillies this season, sends out another highly regarded filly in the shape of Falls of Lora. The Boussac will mark the first try in group I company for the Irish-bred daughter of Street Cry, who has won two of her five career starts. Kieren Fallon will ride for trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni.
The field is rounded out by Rajastani and Yellow Rosebud.
