The major stakes over the Oct. 1-2 weekend will be aired on the ESPN network and the Horse Racing Radio Network.
ESPN will present three hours of stakes coverage from both coasts Oct. 1, beginning at 4:30 p.m. EDT on ESPN Classic and ESPN3. In addition, there will be racing cut-ins during the football programming on ESPN.
The network will air the Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I), Kelso Handicap (gr. II), and Beldame Stakes (gr. I) from Belmont Park. On the West Coast, the ESPN network will show the Goodwood Stakes, Lady’s Secret Stakes, and either the Norfolk or Yellow Ribbon Stakes Presented by Emirates Airline, all grade I stakes, from Santa Anita.
All of the races being aired by ESPN are part of the Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” program in which the winners receive automatic berths in Breeders’ Cup World Championship races in their respective divisions.
HRRN will broadcast live from Belmont Park with a three hour broadcast Oct. 1 that will feature the Gold Cup, Vosburgh (gr. I), Beldame, Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational (gr. IT), and Flower Bowl Invitational (gr. IT) from 3-6 p.m. ET.
On Sunday, Oct. 2, HRRN will air four group I races from Longchamp Race Course, including the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I) from 8:30-10:30 a.m. ET. The coverage is presented by AmWest Entertainment.
The Jockey Club Gold Cup broadcast can be heard on select HRRN affiliates as well as on Sirius 94, while coverage of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe will be carried on Sirius 93 – XM 209.
