Canadian Horse of the Year Alywow remains hospitalized at Troytown Veterinary Hospital in Ireland after injuring a leg in a paddock accident. An infection developed in her hock, and she since has undergone three operations, but remains in foal to Sadler's Wells.
"She's in good hands, but it's a long-term prognosis," said owner Patricia O'Kelly, who owns Kilcarn Stud, on Oct. 22
Alywow (Alysheba--Triple Wow, by Coastal) is the dam of four foals, including 2001 U.S. stakes winner Hidden Cat (by Storm Cat). She was sent to Ireland in 1998 while in foal to Danzig. O'Kelly plans to keep Alywow's yearling filly by Sadler's Wells.
