In her first workout since defeating males in the Woodward Stakes (gr. I), Havre de Grace breezed five furlongs in 1:01 4/5 at Delaware Park Sept. 19. The time by the 4-year-old daughter of Saint Liam was third-fastest among nine working the distance on a fast track.
Trained by Larry Jones for breeder Rick Porter’s Fox Hill Farm, Havre de Grace is being pointed toward a return to competition versus females in the Oct. 1 Beldame Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont Park.
The Woodward victory Sept. 3 positioned Havre de Grace for Horse of the Year consideration, and her connections are considering running in the Nov. 5 Breeders’ Cup Classic (gr. I) rather than the Nov. 4 Ladies’ Classic (gr. I).
