Saint Stephen, a graded stakes-winning full brother to Horse of the Year Ashado, came through with his first winner when his daughter Holy Tempest scored at Northlands Park Sept. 11. Campaigned by Dragon Reach Stables, Holy Tempest captured the  5 1/2-furlong race by three lengths in 1:10.20.

Bred in Alberta, Canada, by Dragon Reach Holdings, Holy Tempest is the first foal out of the Stormin Fever   mare Hurricane Kira, whose dam is a full sister to Canadian graded stakes winner Barlee Mist.

Winner of the 2006 Native Diver Handicap (gr. III), Saint Stephen (Saint Ballado—Goulash, by Mari's Book) stands at Bar None Ranches near Dewinton, Alberta. His 2011 fee was $3,000 (Canadian funds).
