Hip 42 sold for $725,00 at the Keeneland September Sale.

A Dynaformer   colt produced from a grade III winning mare was purchased by Shadwell Estate Co. from the Three Chimneys consignment for $725,000 during the first day of the Keeneland September yearling sale in Lexington.

The price is among the highest during the first half of the Sept. 11 session.

The colt was bred in Kentucky by Padua Stables, which had purchased his dam, Bohemian Lady, for $150,000 from the Paramount Sales consignment to the 2002 Fasig-Tipton July yearling sale. A daughter of Carson City, Bohemian Lady earned $23,231 and won the Cicada Stakes (gr. III).

Prior to the auction, Three Chimneys Case Clay had told The Blood-Horse that the colt was bred on the same cross that produced Barbaro, the ill-fated winner of the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr.  I) who later succumbed to laminitis.

“The other things that make him special other than his physical attributes are he’s out of a graded stakes-winning mare and he’s in the family of Any Given Saturday   and Second of June.”
