Belleza Negra became the first winner for New Mexico stallion Bourbon N Blues when she won a maiden special weight race at Albuquerque Aug. 31. From her sire’s initial crop, 2-year-old Belleza Negra captured the 5 1/2-furlong race in 1:07.44 for owner David Marquez.

Bred in New Mexico by Marlin Sasser, Belleza Negra is out of multiple stakes winner Rising Express (by Expressman).

A stakes winner and twice stakes-placed, Bourbon N Blues (Lycius—Bayou Plans, by Bayou Hebert) stands at Mitch DeGroot’s DeGroot Farm near Clovis, N.M. His 2011 fee was $1,500.
