Godolphin Racing's Breeders' Cup contenders Sakhee, Fantastic Light, Express Tour, and Noverre were all on the Belmont track Friday, working toward the Oct. 27 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Racing Championships.

With Lee Roebuck aboard, Sakhee went to the track a little after 7 a.m. (EDT) and worked five furlongs in 1:05 1/5. Assistant trainer Tom Albertrani said he was "very pleased" with the effort, even though the time was somewhat slow. "He handled the track very well and I really liked the way he finished," Albertrani said.

Roebuck was also up on Fantastic Light when he worked after the maintenance break. He was timed in 1:32 1/5 for seven furlongs, with a six-furlong split of 1:18, meaning he got the last eighth of a mile in :14 1/5. The time of the work did not concern Albertrani. "He's an older horse now and is getting a little smart," Albertrani said. "He's a horse who's never finished well in his works, so he just stuck his toe in an eased himself up near the end of his work. But he has done this before. He has already worked many times on the dirt and he worked well here on dirt last year. so we know he can handle the track. I got him going a couple of eighths in :12 and change, around the turn."

Godolphin's other workers Friday, on the track just prior to the maintenance break, were Express Tour, who got five furlongs in 1:02, and Noverre, who was timed in 1:01 4/5 for the same distance.

In another workout Friday, Bobby Frankel-trained Starine worked five-eighths of a mile in 1:00 2/5. Frankel said he was "very happy" with the work and believes she will run a "big race. She will improve off her last."

Two Cup contenders scheduled to work at Belmont on Saturday are Macho Uno, who galloped Friday, and Aptitude, who is set to work five furlongs and gallop out six furlongs.
