Get Stormy, runner-up to Turallure in the Bernard Baruch Handicap (gr. IIT) at Saratoga Aug. 26 under Ramon Dominguez, emerged from the race somewhat worse for wear, suffering a cut just above his right hind hock when another horse clipped his heel going into the clubhouse turn.

“Somebody clipped him and peeled him like a tomato--about four layers of skin,” said trainer Tom Bush. “Ramon came back and told me to look at the replay after the race. He said, ‘I couldn’t tell you for sure, but he either lost his footing on the soft turf or he clipped heels.’ Ramon said he was nice and relaxed going into the turn, but after that happened he just grabbed the bit and wouldn’t let go.”

In the Bernard Baruch, 5-year-old Get Stormy (Stormy Atlantic  Foolish Gal, by Kiri's Clown) led at every call before yielding in the stretch to Turallure, missing his chance to win a second consecutive running of 1 1/8-mile race. Bush was just happy the damage to the dual grade I winner and millionaire was relatively superficial.

“We feel very, very lucky,” said Bush, who trains the homebred runner for Mary A. Sullivan’s Sullimer Stable. “We’ll take the luck.”
