Dome's Victory Tops New Mexico-Bred Sale

Dome’s Victory, a daughter of the Storm Cat stallion Dome, brought $75,000 to top the New Mexico-bred select yearling sale Aug. 20 at the Ruidoso Horse Sale Pavilion at Ruidoso Downs Race Track & Casino. William R. Hatchett purchased the chestnut yearling from Double LL Farms, agent.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parr bred Dome’s Victory. Produced from the winning Victory Gallop mare Victory Girl, the filly is a half sister to Excessive Victory (by In Excessive Bull), who captured the 2009 La Senora Handicap at Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino.

The results for the auction included a gross of $738,750 for the 86 yearlings that were sold. The average price was $8,590, and the median price was $4,350. The buy-back rate was 28.9%.

In addition, five broodmares of 17 offered were sold. They grossed $17,900 and averaged $3,580. The median was $4,000.

In 2010, 131 yearlings were sold for a gross of $656,950. The average was $5,015, and the median was $1,700. The buy-back rate was 28.4%.
