Any Given Saturday Sires First Two Winners

Grade I winner Any Given Saturday  , who stands at Sheikh Mohammed’s Darley near Lexington, was represented by his first two winners Aug 12. Ittasal, a filly, scored at Kempton Park in England in her first start, and Saturday Launch, a colt, won at Ellis Park.

Ittasal’s victory came at seven furlongs for owner Godolphin. Bred in Great Britain by Darley, Ittasal is out of English group stakes-placed Journalist (by Night Shift) and is a half sister to two stakes-placed runners including group III-placed La Presse.

Saturday Launch scored at a mile by two lengths in 1:35.80 for owner Stephen R. Baker (VIDEO). Bred in Kentucky by Bloodstock Holdings, Saturday Launch is the third winner from as many starters from the stakes-placed Cee's Tizzy mare Ardum Relaunch .

Any Given Saturday (Distorted Humor  —Weekend in Indy, by A.P. Indy) was a leading 3-year-old of 2007, winning three graded stakes. His key win came in the Haskell Invitational Stakes (gr. I) over Hard Spun and subsequent two-time Horse of the Year Curlin.

Any Given Saturday’s 2011 fee was $20,000.
