Jockey John Velazquez was involved in a spill in the fifth race at Saratoga Saturday, injuring his left shoulder, and was taken to Saratoga Hospital for X-Rays. "It is very possible that it (the collarbone) is broken; we are waiting for X-Ray results to come back," said Angel Cordero Jr., Velazquez's agent. Velazquez suffered the injury when his mount, Repute, clipped heels and fell.
Velazquez is named to ride More Than Ready in Sunday's Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park but will not be riding on Sunday, according to Cordero. "There is no chance of him going down (to New Jersey). He will not ride at Monmouth Park (Sunday)."
Velazquez was to have ridden Curule in the Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga on Saturday, but was replaced by Mike Smith.
