Sheikh Mohammed's bloodstock adviser John Ferguson again bought the top-priced horse of the day when he paid $1.2 million Aug. 9 for a colt by Bernardini out of Easter Bunnette, the dam of grade I distaff runner Havre de Grace. The colt topped the second session of the two-day Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select yearling sale held Aug. 8-9.
During the sale's opening session, Ferguson paid $1.2 million for a son of Medaglia d'Oro out of Supercharger, the dam of Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) winner Super Saver . The colt is named Superfection.
The Bernardini colt was consigned by Mill Ridge Sales and bred by Nancy Dillman of Kentucky. Easter Bunnette, by Carson City and out of stakes winner Toll Fee, was bought out of the 2003 Keeneland November Breeding Stock sale for $450,000 by Headley Bell's Nicoma Bloodstock, as agent.
