Inside Track by Donna Barton Brothers

Well-known national racing commentator and former jockey Donna Barton Brothers is the author of a new book, "Inside Track: Insider's Guide to Horse Racing."

Released  Aug. 1 by Eclipse Press, "Inside Track" provides an insider’s guide to a day at the races with tips on what to wear, how to bet, how to watch a race, and where to see the best racing.

Inside Track contains basic information about Thoroughbred racing plus additional details for those who want to delve further into the subject. Celebrities and well-known Thoroughbred owners also share their thoughts on what makes racing so appealing.

Inside Track retails for $16.95 and is available at www.exclusivelyequine.com and at selected outlets.

Barton Brothers will signs copies of her book at these Saratoga locations:

• National Museum of Racing, Aug. 7 and 8, 10 a.m.-noon

• Saratoga Race Course's "backyard," near merchandise tent, Aug. 7, 12:30-2 p.m.

• Lyrical Ballad bookstore, Aug. 8, 6-7:30 p.m.

Barton Brothers achieved fame as one of the all-time leading female jockeys, winning more than 1,100 races, and she remains second on the money list. Her mother, Patti Barton, was one of the first women to be licensed as a jockey.

Barton Brothers now uses her racing expertise as a commentator and analyst for NBC Sports' Triple Crown coverage and for the TVG Network. In addition to Thoroughbred racing, Barton Brothers covers other sporting events such as the World Equestrian Games, the Hambletonian, and the Professional Bull Riders finals. She is married to former Thoroughbred trainer Frank Brothers.
