Sarah's Secret, undefeated in four starts so far, leads a field of 10 sophomore fillies in the $150,000 San Clemente Handicap (gr. IIT) July 24 at Del Mar.

Trained by Kathy Walsh, Sarah’s Secret won both of her starts over synthetic surfaces in California as a juvenile, and is again perfect in two starts on the Hollywood Park turf in 2011. She enters the one-mile San Clemente off a wire-to-wire half-length victory in the 1 1/8-mile Honeymoon Handicap (gr. IIT) June 11. The daughter of Leroidesanimaux   will carry top weight of 120 pounds thanks to that win.
Since the Honeymoon victory, Sarah’s Secret has worked three times, including a sharp five-furlong move in :59 July 17, the best of 83 works that morning at Hollywood. David Flores, aboard for her first three triumphs, will have the mount.
The chestnut filly, who will break from post 5, was bred by her co-owner Joan Hadley Thoroughbreds. She is out of the Luhuk mare Sarasota.
Trainers James Cassidy, Ben Cecil, and Mike Puype all have entered a pair of contenders in the San Clemente.
Cassidy’s two are Fifth Commandment, who was third in the June 18 Manhattan Beach (gr. IIIT) in her season and United States debut, and English-bred Fifth Ave, the sixth-place finisher in the Manhattan Beach.
Cecil will send out Celestial Kitten, runner-up in the Sands Point (gr. IIT) at Belmont Park in May for Chad Brown. This will be the filly’s first start in California and for Cecil. Cecil’s other entrant, who is on the also-eligible list, is the English-bred filly Carousel, who is a homebred racing for The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall. This would be Carousel’s first start in the U.S. after breaking her maiden May 7 at Thirsk.
Puype has entered Mizdirection, runner-up by 1 1/2 lengths in the Manhattan Beach as the favorite, and Justenufappeal, winner of the Golden Poppy Stakes at Golden Gate Fields in April. Justenufappeal will be making her first start for Puype in the San Clemente.
Post time for Del Mar's Sunday feature is 5:30 p.m. PDT.
