Calder Will Not Race on Mondays as Scheduled

Calder Casino & Race Course has announced it will cancel nine Monday race cards originally scheduled during the later portion of the Calder meet. According to the announement, from July 25 through Sept. 26 will become simulcast days; Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day) remains a live race day.

“We are shifting racing opportunities from Mondays to days that make more economic sense for the business and for the horsemen,” said Calder vice president and general manager John Marshall.  “We will add races to other days throughout the year, which we believe will improve the overall customer experience by providing more action on those live race days.”

Calder has offered live racing four days a week, with the exception of some Monday holiday race cards, since opening its 2011 Calder meet on April 25. The elimination of Mondays during the later portion of the Calder Meet means the South Florida racetrack will continue to offer live racing Thursdays through Sundays each week.

In another adjustment, Calder is also moving a live racing day from Tuesday, Sept. 6 to Thursday, Sept. 8.
