The New York Thoroughbred Breeders, Fasig-Tipton, and New York Racing Association during an Aug. 13 forum will discuss the future of New York racing and breeding after video lottery terminals begin operating at Aqueduct later this year.

The forum will be held at Fasig-Tipton’s Humphrey Pavilion in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., from 8:30-11 a.m. EDT. It will include speaker presentations as well as a question-and-answer segment.

The two-day Fasig-Tipton New York-bred yearling sale will be held at night Aug. 13-14.

“The forum, which gives a new look and feel to the NYTB annual meeting, will be an opportunity for industry participants, NYTB members, and the general public to hear about the impact of the Resorts World Casino on the breeding and racing industries in the upcoming months and years,” the NYTB said in a release.

Scheduled speakers are NYRA president and chief executive officer Charles Hayward; Fasig-Tipton marketing director Terence Collier; Michael Speller, casino president for Resorts World New York; NYTB executive director Jeff Cannizzo; and Rick Violette, president of the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association.

Registration is free; for more information contact the NYTB at 518-587-0777 or office@nytbreeders.org. The NYTB said registration will be available at the door beginning at 8:30 a.m. but seating isn’t guaranteed.
