Announcers from racetracks of all sizes from around the nation will participate in the 2001 All-Star Announcer Day Oct. 26 as part of the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships festivities at Belmont Park. New York Racing Association Track Announcer Tom Durkinwill host the Announcers Day. The 10 visiting announcers will share the microphone at Belmont on Breeders' Cup eve. Participating will be: Mike Battaglia, Turfway Park; Larry Collmus, Monmouth/Suffolk Downs; Trevor Denman, Santa Anita/Del Mar/Fairplex; Tom Durkin, Belmont/Saratoga; Robert Geller, Emerald Downs/Sunland Park; Dave Johnson, Meadowlands; Dan Loiselle, Woodbine; Charles Pinnell, Thistledown; and Victor Stauffer, Gulfstream Park/Hollywood. ...Friday night racing, canceled by Hollywood Park during the summer in response to the state's energy crunch, will resume on the first two Friday's of the track's six-week Autumn Meet that begins Wednesday, Nov. 7. Post times on Nov. 9 and Nov. 16 will be at 7 p.m. Racing on all other days, except the 11 a.m. post on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, will start at 12:30 p.m. The Autumn Meet runs through Dec. 17.
