Kitalpha, a full brother to prominent stallion Kingmambo, sired his first winner from his initial North American crop when his 2-year-old son Keg won at six furlongs at Prairie Meadows July 12 in his first start. Keg’s triumph came by 1 3/4 lengths in 1:12.19 as a homebred for John James Revocable Trust.
Keg is a half brother to multiple stakes winner Vertical Vision and is out of the Service Stripe mare Caney Creek.
Kitalpha, who was bred by Stavros Niarchos’ Flaxman Holdings and foaled at William S. Farish’s Lane’s End-Oak Tree Division near Lexington, also has stood in Zimbabwe. He has sired more than 20 stakes winners.
Kitalpha (Mr. Prospector—Miesque, by Nureyev) stands at Gerry and Dana Aschinger’s War Horse Place near Lexington. His 2011 fee was $12,500.
