The New York Racing Association announced July 11 that it has discontinued its lawsuit against the Division of the Budget over a Freedom of Information Law request by a newspaper.
“NYRA has informed the attorney general’s office that we are immediately withdrawing the lawsuit and NYRA will have no further objection to the release of this information pursuant to FOIL,” a statement from NYRA said.
The lawsuit came about after the budget division notified NYRA of plans to release the 2011 financial plan to the Albany Times-Union.
According to the Times-Union, NYRA lost a similar suit in 2009 when the newspaper had filed a FOIL request for financial information.
The newspaper reported that the attorney general’s office was arguing for a change of venue of Albany instead of Queens County.
