Jockey Patrick Valenzuela is off his mounts at Hollywood Park July 9 after being unseated in a race the night before. According to his agent, Tom Knust, the 48-year-old rider should return to action July 10.

Sunburn, the 2-1 favorite in the fourth race for California-bred maiden fillies and mares July 8, stumbled badly shortly after the start, unseating Valenzuela.

Valenzuela, who earned his first grade I win at Hollywood Park in seven years July 2 aboard Courageous Cat   in the Shoemaker Mile, was taken immediately to nearby Centinela Hospital Medical Center complaining of hip, leg, and left shoulder pain.

X-rays were negative and Valenzuela, who has 21 victories at the spring/summer meet, was released from the hospital later that night.

Valenzuela was named to ride in four of the 10 races today. He has three mounts Sunday.
