Dumaani to Hideaway in California; Din's Dancer Euthanized

Millionaire Dumaani is scheduled to stand the 2002 breeding season at Gary and Marlene Howard's Hideaway Farms near San Jacinto, Calif. Hideaway will stand 10-year-old Dumaani on a lease arrangement worked out with Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell Farm. Dumaani (Danzig--Desirable, by Lord Gayle) stood at Shadwell near Lexington and is the sire of one stakes winner. He will stand for $5,000 live foal.

The Howards also reported the loss of the stallion Din's Dancer. Sixteen-year-old Din's Dancer was euthanized Oct. 12 after fracturing a pastern bone in a paddock accident that day at Hideaway. Din's Dancer was taken to San Luis Rey Equine Hospital and outfitted with a cast. Upon further examination, it was determined that the situation was hopeless, and he was put down.

Din's Dancer (Sovereign Dancer--Din's Time, by Olden Times) stood at Hideaway the past two years. He covered some 50 mares in 2001, and Gary Howard was looking toward a similar number in 2002.

Din's Dancer sired four stakes winners. His best offspring, Ladies Din, was a grade I winner and earned $1.6 million. Din's Dancer won three stakes and earned $537,979 in his racing career.
