Gary and Mary West have privately purchased Canadian champion Milwaukee Appeal from C. E. C. Farms and have retired her to their broodmare band, according to the couple’s representative Ben Glass. The 6-year-old mare has been sent to Frank and Mattie Justice’s Dell Ridge Farm near Lexington.
Milwaukee Appeal (Milwaukee Brew —Appealing Forum, by Open Forum) was voted Canada’s champion 3-year-old filly of 2009 racing as a C. E. C. homebred. She won that year’s classic Woodbine Oaks Presented by Budweiser and the Star Shoot Stakes and placed in five stakes including two other classics, the Queen’s Plate Stakes and the Prince of Wales Stakes.
Milwaukee Appeal, who also was a stakes winner at 2, closed out her career with a third-place finish in the Trillium Stakes at Woodbine June 25. During her four years of racing she won or placed in 18 of 25 starts and earned $1,198,674.
