A field of seven 3-year-olds will go to post for the $400,000 Jim Dandy Stakes (gr. II) Saturday at Saratoga, including Godolphin Racing's Curule. The son of Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner Go for Gin was assigned 114 pounds for the 1 1/8-mile race, two less than his nearest rival and six less than the four co-highweights. John Velazquez will guide the recent Belmont Park allowance winner from post position four.
One of the 120 co-highweights is another son of Go for Gin, Dwyer Stakes (gr. II) winner Albert the Great. The Nick Zito trainee improved dramatically after being equipped with blinkers earlier this year. The front running colt earned his first career win in April and has yet to lose a race since.
The lone gelding in the field is Coolmore Lexington Stakes (gr. II) winner Unshaded. The son of Unbridled will be making his first start since a third-place finish in the Belmont Stakes (gr. I) and will be ridden by Shane Sellers.
The field for the Jim Dandy, with jockeys and weights, will consist of:
1--Brave Quest, Jorge Chavez, 116
2--Postponed, Edgar Prado, 120
3--Graeme Hall, Jerry Bailey, 120
4--Curule, John Velazquez, 114
5--Millencolin, Pat Day, 118
6--Unshaded, Shane Sellers, 120
7--Albert the Great, Richard Migliore, 120
