Other highlights included the presentation of 100 awards to the breeders of Ontario-bred black-type winners of 2010.
Four stallions were honored based on their 2010 earnings of eligible progeny, with first place going to Bold Executive, second place to Where's the Ring, and third place to Trajectory. The award for 2010 top first-crop Ontario sire went to Old Forester.
Arosa Farms and Fieldstone Farms Inc. were both recognized for their 25-year contribution to the Thoroughbred breeding industry, while Sam-Son Farms received The Jockey Club of Canada Award for 2010 as Leading Owner in Ontario. Veterinarian student Amanda Marsella was recognized as the 2010 Gillian Luxton M.D. Scholarship Recipient. A silent auction also took place during the evening, the proceeds from which were donated by members of the industry to the LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society.
