Remington Park in Oklahoma has bumped up the stakes schedule for its 2011 Thoroughbred meet, which runs from Aug. 18-Dec. 10.
The meet is headed by the $400,000 Oklahoma Derby and $300,000 Springboard Mile. With stakes purses will total $3.2 million; 15 of the events will have a purse of $100,000 or more.
The Sunday, Oct. 16, afternoon program will feature the Oklahoma Derby, $250,000 Remington Park Oaks, and the $125,000 Remington Green Stakes on the turf.
The Remington 2-year-old series of stakes returns with the $75,000 Kip Deville Stakes Oct. 7, $100,000 Clever Trevor Stakes Nov. 11, and Springboard Mile Dec. 10. The Springboard received a purse increase from $250,000 to $300,000.
On opening weekend the $200,000 Remington Park Sprint Cup and $100,000 Governor’s Cup are scheduled. A follow-up to the Sprint Cup is a new race, the $100,000 David M. Vance Stakes, set for Sept. 30.
Oklahoma Classics night is set for Friday, Oct. 28, with that series of eight races worth more than $1 million. The main event is the $175,000 Oklahoma Classics Cup.
There will be 12 stakes for eligible Oklahoma-bred horses throughout the season.
Officials said stall applications are due in the racing office at the Oklahoma City track by June 20. Post time is set for 6:30 p.m. Central with racing generally Wednesdays through Saturdays.
