The first round of nominations for both the CashCall Futurity (gr. I) and the Hollywood Starlet Stakes (gr. I) are up over last year, according to Martin Panza, Hollywood Park’s racing secretary and vice president-racing.
Early nominations for the Futurity, a race for 2-year-olds that has a guaranteed purse of $750,000, total 250, compared to 225 at the same time in 2010.
There are 198 early nominations for the Starlet, a race for 2-year-old fillies with an estimated purse of $500,000, compared to 163 a year ago.
Sustaining payments are due July 8. The Hollywood Starlet is scheduled for Dec. 10 while the CashCall Futurity will be run Dec. 17. Both races are at 1 1/16 miles over Cushion Track.
