The May 29 live racing program at Arlington Park was canceled following the second race when the jockeys chose not to ride, the track announced.

Arlington Heights had been hit by about 1.5 inches of rain during the day and was under a flash flood warning. The rain had cleared by mid-afternoon, however, according to the national weather service.

“We felt the weather would continue to get better, which it did but the jockeys felt otherwise,” said Tony Petrillo, Arlington Park's general manager, in a statement from the track. “We are deeply disappointed in their decision. We regret that our customers, owners, and trainers were inconvenienced. We just want to move forward and focus on a great day of racing tomorrow.”

Fans in attendance were given free admission coupons to use at any time during the remainder of the meet.

Racing at Arlington Park will resume Monday, May 30 at 1 p.m. for a special Memorial Day holiday card.
