Tim Glyshaw and Dean Baer’s Ready's Rocket set the modern record for most wins by a horse at Churchill Downs May 21 when he won his ninth race at the Kentucky track.

Ready’s Rocket, an 8-year-old Kentucky-bred gelding by More Than Ready   out of the El Gran Senor mare Serene Delight, won a $10,000 claiming race at 6 1/2 furlongs by a neck under Calvin Borel. Bred by Nicky Kearns, Ready’s Rocket has banked $212,895 with 17 wins in 62 starts thus far.

“He has probably lost a step and isn’t as fast as he used to be, but he’s training well, likes Churchill, and still enjoys his job,” said Glyshaw, who also trains Ready’s Rocket.

On May 30, 2010, Ready’s Rocket became the seventh horse to record eight victories at Churchill since 1976, the first year detailed information was gathered by Equibase.

Other eight-time winners at Churchill since 1976 are Athenium, Bet On SunshineCanela, Crown Lease, Lord Rusty, and Maxxed.
