Secret Status, in her Kentucky Oaks victory.
Millionaire and multiple grade I winner Secret Status has been retired following an unplaced effort in the Oct. 7 Overbrook Spinster Stakes (gr. I) at Keeneland. According to trainer Neil Howard, the 4-year-old filly came out of the race in good shape. "She's retires healthy and 110% sound, and we feel it's the right thing to do," he said.

Secret Status (A.P. Indy--Private Status, by Alydar) raced as a homebred for the three-man partnership of William S. Farish, owner of Lane's End Farm near Versailles, Ky., and James Elkins and Temple Webber Jr. Secret Status captured three consecutive graded stakes last year, taking the Florida Oaks (gr. III), then the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) and Mother Goose Stakes (gr. I). She also placed in the Alabama (gr. I) and Davona Dale (gr. II) Stakes, plus the Coaching Club American Oaks (gr. I).

Secret Status was graded stakes-placed this year and was retired with eight wins and seven placings from 19 starts and earnings of $1,053,705. Breeding plans have not yet been decided.
