Darrell and Lendy Brown’s Stonereath Farm near Paris, Ky. has been sold to Dr. Christoph Berglar’s Narola, it was announced May 24.

Berglar, a native of Germany, is an active Thoroughbred breeder in Europe and will continue that pursuit in Kentucky, according to a release. Berglar's son, Peter, will manage the American operation in association with long time bloodstock consultant Ronald Rauscher. The new entity will operate as Stonereath Stud and will offer boarding and bloodstock services to selected clients.

Tom Biederman of Biederman Real Estate and Auctioneers brokered the purchase. He noted that the Browns will remain active in the industry following the sale of their farm. The couple still own four mares, which they board at another Kentucky farm. Biederman declined to name Stonereath’s sale price, which will become public information in a couple of days.

Stonereath was best known for being the home of the multiple graded stakes producing mare Best in Show. A stakes winner on the track, Best in Show went on to become the dam of four graded stakes winners, three of which were bred by the Browns, including dual grade I victor Blush With Pride.

Alone or in partnership, Stonereath also bred such graded stakes winners as Broadway Flyer (gr. I), Greek Costume (gr. II), Kentucky Caper (gr. III), and Careless Heiress.
