Sun King, a multi-millionaire and four-time graded stakes winner, sired his first winner on May 22, when a 2-year-old colt named Legalis won at Premio Meltrasio racetrack in Milan, Italy.

Out of the stakes-producing Time for a Change mare Eh La Bas Chere, Legalis proved best in the six-furlong contest on turf, moving his earnings to $20,500. He had run second in his debut in Rome just a week prior. The colt was bred in Ohio by Fair Winds Farm and was a $9,500 purchase at the 2010 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall yearling sale.

Sun King placed in grade I company eight times during his career and earned more than $2.2 million. His biggest career wins came in the Pennsylvania Derby (gr. II) and Tampa Bay Derby (gr. III) at 3 and Commonwealth Breeders' Cup (gr. II) at 4. Sun King placed in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile, Champagne, Met Mile, Haskell Invitational, and Woodward (all gr. I) for owner Tracy Farmer and trainer Nick Zito.

By Charismatic, out of the Clever Trick mare Clever But Costly, Sun King stands for $10,000 at John Phillips' Darby Dan Farm near Lexington.
