Millionaire Sun King sired his first winner when his son Legalis won May 22 at Milan in Italy. The colt prevailed by a nose under 128 pounds in his second start in a week.
Fair Winds Farm is the breeder of Ohio-bred Legalis, who is out of the Time for a Change mare Eh La Bas Chere, whose 12 foals are all winners, including stakes-winning, stakes producer E Golden Honey and two stakes-placed runners.
Sun King (Charismatic—Clever But Costly, by Clever Trick) was a grade I stakes performer all four years he raced. He captured four graded stakes including the Pennsylvania Derby (gr. II) and the Commonwealth Breeders’ Cup Stakes (gr. II), and placed in eight grade I events including the Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile.
Sun King stands for $10,000 at John Phillips’ Darby Dan Farm near Lexington.
