Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner Monarchos   has made a successful recovery from colic surgery April 19 and has resumed stud duties at Nuckols Farm near Midway, Ky.

Charles Nuckols III said, “Monarchos’ recovery went well, and we have started booking mares for the remainder of the breeding season. We have answered all direct inquiries from breeders, but we did feel we needed to make an official announcement in case someone had not gotten word.”

Monarchos (Maria's Mon—Regal Band, by Dixieland Band) won the second-fastest Kentucky Derby in history in 1:59.97, joining Secretariat as the only winners to cover the mile and a quarter distance in less than two minutes. His 13 stakes winners include champion female sprinter Informed Decision and 2011 grade II winner Win Willy.
