Nehro, second in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), will not run in the May 21 Preakness Stakes (gr. I).

Nehro has endured a busy schedule this spring, and owner Ahmed Zayat said May 17 he doesn't want to risk running the horse in the second leg of the Triple Crown. Zayat said Nehro "couldn't look any better" but he's concerned "about him having four hard races in eight weeks."

Before the Derby Nehro was second in the Louisiana Derby (gr. II) March 26 and second in the Arkansas Derby (gr. I) April 16.

Zayat said his current plan is to enter Nehro in the Belmont Stakes (gr. I) June 11.
