Iowa-based jockey Ramsay Zimmerman was arrested in Des Moines and charged with four felonies, including possession and intent to deliver crack cocaine and heroin, the morning of May 10.

According to Daily Racing Form, police found Zimmerman in an unresponsive state while operating a motor vehicle. Zimmerman, 29, is incarcerated in the Polk County, Iowa, jail.

Agent Kenny Washburn told DRF Zimmerman was supposed to visit family in Chicago May 9 and return to work the morning of May 10.

Zimmerman, who started his riding career in 1998, finished in a tie for the 2010 riding title at Prairie Meadows and had four wins in 35 mounts through the first 11 days of the current meet. His racing license has been suspended by the Prairie Meadows stewards.

In all, the jockey has won 1,531 races from 9,383 mounts and has earned $35,924,685. His biggest career win came aboard Cloudy's Knight in the 2007 Pattison Canadian International Stakes (Can-IT). Zimmerman also won the local riding title at Lone Star Park in 2007.

According to DRF, Zimmerman was suspended in 2005 for substance abuse problems while riding in Illinois but was reinstated after completing a rehabilitation program.
