West Coast millionaire Dixie Dot Com has been retired from racing following an unplaced effort in the Oct. 7 Goodwood Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. II). X rays revealed a hairline fracture of the left front cannon bone. The injury was a recurrence of earlier injuries. According to part owner Ronelle Heller, a decision will be made with fellow owners Don and Carole Chaiken about stud plans for the 6-year-old son of Dixie Brass.
Trained by William Morey Jr., Dixie Dot Com won eight of 23 races and earned $1,332,775. His seven stakes winners included scores in the San Fernando Breeders' Cup (gr. II) and Texas Mile (gr. III) Stakes, plus the San Pasqual (gr. II) and Lone Star Park (gr. III) Handicap. The last-named came in track-record time of 1:40.53 for 1 1/16 miles in the 2001 running.
Dixie Dot Com, who was produced from the Conquistador Cielo mare Sky Meadows, also placed in seven stakes, including this year's Pacific Classic Stakes (gr. I) at Del Mar.
