Grade I winner Hard Spun , a leading 3-year-old of 2007, sired his first winner when his son Mabroor won at Haydock Park in England May 7. Campaigned by Sheikh Hamdan, Mabroor captured the six-furlong race in his initial start.
Bred in Kentucky by Falcon Wood Partners, Mabroor is the third winner from three starters from the winning Exploit mare Mayfield, whose second foal is stakes-placed Angels in Arms. Mayfield is a half sister to five stakes winners, including grade II winner Penny’s Reshoot.
Hard Spun (Danzig—Turkish Tryst, by Turkoman) was a multiple stakes winner at 2 and 3. He captured four graded stakes at 3 including the King’s Bishop Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga. He ran second in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), the Breeders’ Cup Classic – Powered by Dodge (gr. I), and the Haskell Invitational Stakes (gr. Hard Spun stands for $30,000 at Sheikh Mohammed's Darley near Lexington.
