Roland Mackie’s Lion Hall set a new track record for 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:02.79 at Indiana Downs May 5 while winning an allowance test by five lengths.
The victory was the second start of 2011 Lion Hall, who ran third in allowance company at Keeneland on April 16 for trainer Michelle Lovell. The previous track record was set by Unjust in 2009.
A son of Lion Heart bred in Kentucky by Luis Bravo, Lion Hall was purchased by Jason Hall, agent for $60,000 at last year’s Barretts May sale of 2-year-olds in training.
