Liable, the dam of 2010 Breeders’ Cup Classic (gr. I) winner and champion Blame , has been named Broodmare of the Year by the Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association.
Bred by Claiborne Farm, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and Nicole Perry Gorman, Liable placed in two stakes while winning six of 15 starts and earning $235,071 on the track. In addition to Blame, the only horse to defeat 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta, the daughter of Seeking the Gold has also been represented by multiple stakes winner Tend.
Zenyatta, who won Eclipse Awards as Horse of the Year and champion handicap mare, was honored as best Kentucky-bred in both those categories also.
