Flay Buys Oaks Hopeful Her Smile

Her Smile
Celebrity chef Bobby Flay has purchased Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) hopeful Her Smile, a stakes-winning daughter of Include  .
Her Smile, second to Hot Summer in the the April 9 Comely Stakes (gr. III) at Aqueduct, joins trainer Todd Pletcher’s barn at Churchill Downs. Pletcher also trains early favorite R Heat Lightning in what is expected to be a crowded and competitive Oaks.
Flay purchased the Virginia-bred filly from her owner-breeder, William M. Backer. Her Smile has a record of 3-2-1 in seven races, including a victory in the 2010 Donna Freyer Stakes at Philadelphia’s Parx Racing, and earnings of $126,360. She has $30,000 in graded stakes earnings. Her Smile previously was trained by Leigh Delacour.
