As it prepares to open its race meet April 25, Calder Casino & Race Course as of April 22 did not have a contract for Advance Deposit Wagering with the Florida Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association.

However, the Florida HPBA will permit Calder to send its signal to ADWs, said Sam Gordon, president of the horsemen’s group.

The Miami Gardens, Fla., track and the Florida HBPA have signed purse and simulcast contracts for Calder’s season that runs through Dec. 2.

Gordon said remaining ADW issues include some details on having full access to available ADWs and source market fees. He added that the Florida HBPA has given Calder a May 15 deadline for negotiating an ADW agreement.

“I think we will reach an agreement by then,” he said.

“Discussions on the FHBPA’s issues are in progress,” said a Calder official who otherwise declined to comment
