The Delta Downs Jackpot (gr. III), one of the richest 2-year-old races in North America with a $1 million purse, will be renewed at Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel, on Saturday, Nov. 19, according to an announcement from Boyd Gaming Corporation, which owns the Louisiana track.
Previously on the first Friday evening in December, the race was repositioned on the calendar in 2010, resulting in a 73% increase in handle on the Jackpot Day program.
“We look forward to building on the remarkable results of the 2010 event, and to continue making the $1,000,000 Delta Downs Jackpot one of the most important races on the 2-year-old stakes calendar,” said Paul Chakmak, executive vice president and COO of Boyd Gaming. “We received overwhelmingly positive national response from our horsemen and fans to our November afternoon date last year, and will continue to create an outstanding racing experience for our 2011 edition.”
