Three Chimneys Farm stallion War Chant (Danzig – Hollywood Wildcat, by Kris S.), will shuttle to Ron Sayers’ Yarradale Stud in Western Australia for the 2011 breeding season. A Southern Hemisphere stud fee has not yet been set.
Among the top current runners for War Chant, winner of the Breeders’ Cup Mile (gr. IT), are Santa Anita Derby (gr. I) winner Midnight Interlude, who is being aimed at the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), Curragh National Stakes (Ire-I) winner Kingsfort, and 2010 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (gr. IIT) winner Chamberlain Bridge, who has earned $1,635,245 to date.
“It is a huge coup for the West Australian breeding industry that Yarradale Stud has secured the lifetime Southern Hemisphere rights to War Chant,” Sayers said in a statement. “War Chant has proven to be a prolific sire of turf horses in both the U.S. and Europe, and his numbers compare fabulously with the leading sires in Australia.”
Standing for $12,500 for the 2011 breeding season at Three Chimneys, War Chant has an average earnings per starter of $103,315 and a lifetime stakes winners from foals percentage of 8.5.
“War Chant’s physical characteristics and progeny results will easily make him one of the premier options for Australian breeders this year,” said Robert Clay, owner of Three Chimneys Farm, in a release. “War Chant has one of the most promising colts aiming for this spring’s Triple Crown and a number of other high caliber stakes performers starting their spring and summer campaigns. This opportunity can only strengthen his impressive resume of runners.”
War Chant currently has 27 stakes winners, including 13 group/graded stakes winners.
