The 6-year-old Australian-bred mare Sacred Choice became the first horse to qualify for the 2011 TVG Breeders’ Cup Mile (gr. IT) following her two-length victory over Love Conquers All April 16 in the Emirates Doncaster Mile (Aus-I) at Royal Randwick.
Owned in partnership by Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Fraser, Sacred Choice earned her start in the Mile through the Breeders’ Cup Challenge, a global series of stakes races whose winners earn automatic berths in a corresponding race of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, which will be held on Nov. 4-5 at Churchill Downs in Louisville.
Trained by Joe Pride and ridden to victory by Tim Clark, the daughter of Choisir covered the one mile in 1:39.42 over a heavy turf course.
