Darley Stable’s Arthur's Tale, who was beaten a neck in last Saturday’s Resorts World Casino Wood Memorial (gr. I), came out of the race with a minor injury and will miss the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), trainer Tom Albertrani said April 13.

“He popped a splint in his left front leg,” Albertrani said. “We’ll cool it out and point for the Belmont (gr. I). We noticed the day after the race the leg was sensitive. It’s just one of those things. One day he runs the race of his life and looks like a Derby horse who’s going to love the mile and a quarter and is going in the right direction, and the next day he’s out of it. It’s just bad timing.”

The son of Bernardini   – Owsley, by Harlan, who was purchased at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling sale for $750,000, has run seven times with two victories, a second, and a third. In his previous stakes appearances he was fourth in the Count Fleet and the Whirlaway Stakes.

In the Wood Memorial, he made a big late run to take the lead from Uncle Mo   in the final sixteenth, but was just nailed on the wire by Toby's Corner.
