Lilacs and Lace, who won the $400,000 Central Bank Ashland Stakes (gr. I) at Keeneland April 9, gained a sibling just hours later when her dam delivered her full sister.
The bay filly (Flower Alley —Refinement, by Seattle Slew) was born at 12:10 a.m. April 10 at Judy Hicks’ farm near Versailles, Ky. Hicks and Kathryn Nikkel are the co-breeders of Lilacs and Lace and the newborn filly. The two women are members of a partnership that campaign the Ashland winner.
Lilacs and Lace is scheduled to run next in the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) May 6. She is the first grade I winner by Flower Alley, who stands for $10,000 at Robert N. Clay’s Three Chimneys Farm near Midway, Ky. Flower Alley is by Distorted Humor out of the Lycius mare Princess Olivia.
