A colt from the first crop by Japanese stallion Pyro was foaled March 6 at Catesby Clay’s Runnymede Farm near Paris. Ky. The colt is believed to be the only individual by his sire foaled outside Japan.

“This foal is an absolute star; he is beautifully conformed,” said Martin O’Dowd, Runnymede vice president and general manager.

The colt’s dam, Kentucky-bred Tres Tres Joli (by Gone West), is owned by Runnymede and Peter Callahan. Bred by the two parties, Tres Tres Joli spent a couple of years in Japan prior to her return in late 2010. She is booked to Kentucky stallion Harlan's Holiday.

Pyro, who stands at Sheikh Mohammed’s Darley Japan Stallion Complex, won four graded stakes, including the 2009 Forego Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga. He placed in the Travers Stakes (gr. I), the Bessemer Trust Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (gr. I), and the Champagne Stakes (gr. I), and two grade II events .

Pyro is by Pulpit out of the Wild Again mare Wild Vision.
