Mo Mon, a leading sire in New Jersey, died of an apparent heart attack March 9. The 13-year-old son of Maria's Mon was found dead in his paddock at Dianne Boyken’s Four Winds Farm in Millstone Township.

Produced from the unraced Key to the Mint mare Sewing Lady, Mo Mon was a half brother to 2003 Breeders’ Cup Distaff (gr. I) and 2004 Santa Margarita Invitational Handicap (gr. I) winner Adoration (by Honor Grades). He was New Jersey’s second-leading sire by progeny earnings in 2010 and he ranked eighth in 2009. His two added-money winners were Moneigh Lisa, who captured the 2010 Spruce Fir Handicap at Monmouth Park, and Loving Dove, who scored in the 2010 Jersey Juvenile Stakes at Monmouth.

Mo Mon won two of his 21 career races and earned $197,720. He finished third in the 2001 El Camino Real Derby (gr. III) at Golden Gate Fields and was second in four other added-money events.
